Our analysis

Attack on Titan 2's fast grappling-hook combat is a blast, though stat crafting and relationship scenes interrupt it. The downtime ultimately makes returning to Titan fights more appealing.

Strong core combat undermined by underdeveloped new features, recycled story, repetitive level design, and wasted potential.

    Our analysis

More of a refined re-do than a true sequel, this is roughly a 75% retread of the prior game, reusing many cutscenes and scenarios in a way that can feel cheap and disjointed. The exhilarating grappling-hook traversal and positional Titan combat remain a standout, now deepened with sneak attacks, team assists, base-building, and a relationship system that feeds into character skills. A great jumping-on point for newcomers, but veterans of the first game may find the familiar core wearing thin.
