Luigi's Mansion 2 HD

Our analysis

A very good-looking, smooth-playing HD remaster of the 3DS Dark Moon, with sharper visuals, enhanced animations, and a welcome second-stick control scheme. However it plays things too safe for its premium price, adding no new content, save points, or quality-of-life fixes. The mission-based structure that yanks you out of exploration and the constant interruptions from Professor E. Gadd remain grating, making it a solid but flawed package.

Our analysis

A strong, charming entry in the ghost-busting series, this HD remaster of the 3DS original brings noticeably cleaner visuals, crisp textures, and the standout 1930s-cartoon-style audio that gives it tons of personality. The mission-based structure and incessant phone calls from Professor E. Gadd make it feel stop-start, and it loses something next to the more free-flowing third game. The biggest sticking point is the steep price for what is essentially a visual upgrade with no real new content.

Our analysis

An enjoyable remaster of the 2013 Dark Moon, still fun for solving puzzles, slurping ghosts, and gentle scares, with a sparkling sense of humor and personality. Its mission-based structure feels more disconnected than the other entries, and 3DS-era holdovers like vestigial controls, low-quality overhead shots, and missing checkpoints stick out. As neither the trailblazer nor the refined third entry, it lands as a less essential but interesting middle step in the series.
