Our analysis
Charming remake capturing classic RPG spirit with solid gameplay and great music.
Our analysis
A faithful, well-executed remake impressive for how much it packs into a tight 12-hour runtime, with brisk pacing that constantly delivers new characters, songs, and boss fights. The turn-based combat shines with trickier timing on attacks and blocks plus per-weapon timing, and the visuals beautifully modernize the original's distinct style while keeping its low-stakes, goofy charm intact.
Our analysis
A magical remake of the SNES classic with beautiful visuals and faithful adaptation. Charming writing and fun combat make this accessible to newcomers while pleasing longtime fans.
Our analysis
GameSpot: faithful remaster with enhanced graphics; easier than original.
Our analysis
A brilliant remake that feels fresh and modern while respectfully honoring the original 1996 design. The thoughtful combat system, charming characters, and variety of activities make it an excellent RPG that stands up against the best of its contemporaries.
