A unique, MMO-flavored entry that trades the strong narrative focus of the mainline games for vast, fluid exploration, low-gravity parkour traversal, and deep customizable combat with a standout soul-voice system. The enormous world and class-switching keep things fresh, and the technical compression and sense of scale are remarkable, though the writing is weaker, quest structure feels generic, and the world can be sparse and tedious.

The Definitive Edition excels with exceptional level design, technical optimization on Switch, and massive content (200+ hours), complemented by meaningful quality-of-life improvements over the original. However, the steep entry barrier with slow early-game combat, less engaging narrative compared to the original trilogy, and mechs appearing very late (40-50 hours) make it not for everyone.
