A rough, frustrating opening eventually gives way to one of the most exhilarating and scary experiences in ages, helped by the immersive first-person shift and clever VHS-tape sequences. Drawbacks include thin enemy variety, a slightly dragging ending, and gutted replayability thanks to the limited-save Madhouse mode.
