A disappointing space RPG that fails to innovate beyond Bethesdas dated template. Bland dialogue, generic characters, and a sterile world void of personality. Choices dont matter and fast travel dominates gameplay.
Our analysis
Masterfully crafted space sandbox with exceptional soundtrack and deep customization.
Our analysis
Space exploration with excellent food graphics and engaging faction gameplay. New Game+ multiverse system.
Our analysis
A quintessential Bethesda RPG set in a brand-new universe, packed with detailed environments, dense item interaction, and an enormous breadth of quests, planets, and factions that reward players who get lost in exploration. The opening dozen hours are its weakest stretch, space travel is menu-driven rather than seamless, and weak enemy AI undercuts the challenge. Polarizing overall, landing somewhere around mid-tier without mods but better with them.
Our analysis
Soulless loading screen simulator with broken immersion. Boxy design, perk walls, and lack of cohesive world make it feel empty despite budget.
Our analysis
Impressive scope but poor navigation, cumbersome menus, and lack of direction.
Our analysis
Massive ambitious game with great writing and faction quests, but game flow broken by constant menu navigation and lack of connective tissue between locations.
Our analysis
The Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC fail to transform a fundamentally mediocre game; the free additions are a mixed bag, with cruise mode feeling tacked-on and tedious while the new land vehicle is the genuine standout. The DLC is dull, padded with repetitive incursions you cannot disable, and only the companion Delta and Terran weapons redeem it. The PS5 Pro version suffers from poor performance, hard crashes, and inconsistent frame rates that are inexcusable for a two-year-old release.
Our analysis
Ambitious open-world with rich storytelling but disappointing space exploration.
Our analysis
A slightly-above-average disappointment that is not as bad as Fallout 76 but falls well short of expectations. Solid gunplay, satisfying ship-building, and the freedom to steal ships are genuine highlights, but they are buried under endless loading screens, a tiny inventory and crippling encumbrance limits, an awful UI and map system, weak AI and stealth, forgettable companions and romances, and thousands of empty procedurally generated planets with dull main and faction quests.
Our analysis
Massive sci-fi RPG with exceptional content depth, excellent audio/music, and solid graphics. 100 hours of gameplay justifies the $69.99 price. Minor UI/control complexity and typical Bethesda bugs (NPCs clipping, pathing issues) don't diminish the excellent experience. A compelling interstellar adventure and instant classic for sci-fi fans.
Our analysis
Initially disappointed by loading screens, but after 15 hours the interconnected systems clicked and became addictive.
Our analysis
GS: satisfying gunplay but lacks depth and clear purpose.
Our analysis
Starfield on PS5 is the most definitive console version yet with improved graphics, combat, and new Freestar Collective update, but still struggles with its fundamental design issues around exploration and feels like a series of objective clears rather than a cohesive open-world experience.
And perhaps that is also the answer to the question, is Starfield actually good? No, but sometimes it's damn close.About

Our analysis
Starfield has some cool improvements and additions like cruise mode and the Terran Armada DLC, but at its core the game's fundamental design problems make it mediocre and ultimately not fun despite the nice quality-of-life updates.

Our analysis
Starfield is a phenomenal achievement that sits at the top of the pack despite being a brand new IP. With 50+ hours of gameplay still feeling like scratching the surface, the game excels in creating an immersive experience through its vast exploration, engaging faction questlines, well-designed cities, and the freedom to forge your own path in the galaxy.

Our analysis
The creator really enjoys Starfield as a Fallout 4-in-space experience and considers it the best game Bethesda has made, though not the greatest game ever.
- SSheshounet😐 mixedWatch
Our analysis
The creator finds Starfield deeply disappointing, calling it a shamefully designed experience that prioritizes tedious menus, loading screens, and empty exploration over engaging gameplay. While acknowledging some faction quests provide minor enjoyment, they believe the game will never match the lasting appeal of Bethesda's previous titles like Skyrim or Fallout.

Our analysis
A Bethesda space exploration game with rich universe and lore but significant technical flaws. Strong faction quests in the latter half redeem the rough opening, but the exploration system with 1000 planets lacks depth and polish that Bethesda is capable of.
- Hhabie147😐 mixedWatch
Our analysis
The creator acknowledges that the Freestar update and Terran Armada DLC bring meaningful improvements to Starfield, particularly in spaceflight gameplay and planetary variety, but remains skeptical that these changes will significantly alter the game's legacy or provide lasting endgame value.
