Chrono Cross itself remains a delight, with a whimsical dimension-hopping adventure, dozens of quirky party members, a satisfying elemental battle system, and Mitsuda's brilliant soundtrack, plus welcome quality-of-life additions like battle skipping. But this is a bare-bones remaster: inadequate resolution options, no on-the-fly graphics toggle, untouched menus and cutscenes, and frame-rate dips hold it back. The bundled Radical Dreamers visual novel doesn't hold up, though lore fans will appreciate it.
