A very strong port that runs and looks superb on Switch 2, arguably the best-looking third-party game on the system, with stunning in-engine cutscenes and a stable 30fps that suits its scope. The real-time, action-focused combat with its elegant slow-mo command menu and character swapping is satisfying and a refreshing evolution of the turn-based roots. Drawbacks are minor: some stretched-feeling pacing in spots, a slightly clunky aiming feel when controlling Barret, and mild dithering on Cloud's hair from upscaling.
