Our analysis
A bold sequel that swaps out its star characters yet stands as a defining game for real fans. Its non-stop, masterful soundtrack is the centerpiece, with songs that constantly morph and disconnect excitement from loudness through subtle, layered instrumentation. The graphics and gameplay are strong too, cementing it as a standout in the series.

Our analysis
A superior sequel that improves upon the original with better level design, boss design, enemy behavior, graphics, and character variety. Despite some frustrating elements like sparse checkpoints and difficult Squawks sections, the main campaign is polished and well-designed.
